Bob Fisher set another speed free throw shooting world record at the State Games of Oregon by making an incredible 42 free throws in 1 minute while alternating shooting hands. Bob later set the 2 minute record by making 68 free throws while alternating shooting hands.

Commonwealth Games of Virginia Free Throw Results

On Friday July 16th, 2010 the NBSA ran the first annual free throw competition at the Coventry Commonwealth Games held in Roanoke, Virginia. 17 competitors shot in the event. Caleb Tanner was the highest overall male competitor finishing at 92% and Tiffani Curtwright* was the highest overal female competitor finishing at 90%.

The Games went well, even with a few shooters.  The beauty of the few numbers, for the competitors at least, was that they had long teaching sessions of one-on-one with world record masters.  Every one of the shooters improved from a little to a lot, from this teaching.  They all wanted to know when they can do this again, so they liked it.  In fact they hung out most of the day, shooting, watching and helping with rebounding during the Guinness Record Attempts.

The number of Guinness Book of World Records broken in one day probably itself just got broken on Saturday, July 10, 2010, in Beaverton, OR.  Most assuredly, there have never been this many free throw records challenged and broken in the same day.

Yesterday, Friday, June 4, 2010, the world lost a great man.  The basketball world lost a giant of a playing and coaching legend.  Those closest to John Wooden lost a man who treasured family over all else, a long list of players who considered him a father figure and confidante, and, so many they could not be counted, lost a humble, God-loving friend and mentor.
